AEG DMV Ride for the Region Task Force: Kick-off Webinar

Featured Leaders:

About:

The AEG DMV "Ride for the Region" Task Force has launched the Ride for the Region transit challenge to spark increased use of public transit through gamification and friendly rivalry – riding the wave of college sports competitions (you know the one!) as we head into Earth month.

Task Force Volunteers have designed the Ride for the Region challenge, with help from Daniel Sheehan and the IncenTrip platform/team, and insight from Dennis Morgan and his Harlem CoLab at Columbia University.

  • Registration period: Registration begins February 19, 2024

  • Competition: The competition kicks off March 17, 2024

By incentivizing new riders and encouraging riders to come back to transit, this challenge will not only boost the utilization of public transit services during the competition but will promote mode shift to sustainable transportation that will support a cleaner and healthier region. This mode shift is particularly important since the transportation sector accounts for nearly 40% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the DMV (D.C., Maryland and Virginia).

Please visit the Ride for the Region website for more information on the challenge background and the logistics for being a challenge cohort member.
